PACE Anti-Piracy Releases Version 2.0 of USB Floppy Enabler to Provide Full Compatibility with Appleâs G4 and ROM-in-RAM Machines Running Mac OS 9

San Jose, California - October 25, 1999 -- PACE Anti-Piracy Inc., a leader in the development of anti-piracy systems for the Macintosh, today released version 2.0 of its USB Floppy Enabler. The upgrade ensures that software incorporating PACEâs InterLok¨ technology will operate correctly on Apple Computer, Inc.âs new G4 and other ãROM-IN-RAMä Power Macintosh computers running the newly-released OS 9. PACE has extended the functionality of its USB Floppy Enabler to include technologies to overcome incompatibilities related to these new products.

PACEâs USB Floppy Enabler is a driver that emulates the Sony diskette drive interface, allowing supported third-party external USB floppy drives to work with floppy-based software products. InterLok¨ is PACEâs fifth generation tool set for protecting, distributing and selling software, and is widely used by developers of pro-audio, font, and graphics software products. The new version of the Enabler is necessary for any developer using InterLok whose customers use Appleâs new Power Macintosh G4 machines, or any ãROM-in-RAMä machine, including the iMac, iBook, ãbronze keyboardä PowerBook G3, and ãblue and whiteä Power Macintosh G3, running Mac OS 9. Unlike previous versions, this latest enabler is required on these new Macintosh platforms even if floppy diskettes are not used for distribution of authorization. Software developers who protect their products with PACEâs InterLok¨ system should download version 2.0 of the USB Floppy Enabler from PACEâs website to avoid any potential compatibility issues.

PACE released the USB Floppy Enabler in March of this year in order to help the Macintosh community handle Appleâs transition to a floppyless computer product line. In addition to solving compatibility issues, version 2.0 of the USB Floppy Enabler adds support for additional third-party floppy disk hardware. Information regarding the added support of this version is available directly from PACE Anti-Piracy.

Version 2.0 of the USB Floppy Enabler is available for download from PACEâs web site free of charge. Software publishers and distributors can obtain a license for bundling the enabler with their own products and for distributing it from their web sites by contacting PACE Sales. More information is available about PACE Anti-Piracy, the USB Floppy Enabler, and PACEâs suite of InterLok¨ products at the companyâs web site: http://www.paceap.com.
